Theaterpreis des Bundes 2019
Jury statement
“Based on contemporary auteur theater, Theater Rampe in Stuttgart succeeds in establishing a variety of connections to state theaters as well as to the local and national independent performing arts scene, for which it is a vital source of inspiration. In just a few years, the artistic duo Marie Bues and Martina Grohmann and their team have developed the theater into a nationally acclaimed production house for independent theater of all genres. Numerous artists develop and present contemporary and socially critical, experimental, aesthetically challenging productions ranging from spoken theater and performance to dance and interdisciplinary projects. In large-scale transdisciplinary collaborations, for example with the visual arts institutions, and in collaboration with various municipal initiatives, the Rampe creates an impact that goes far beyond the boundaries of the stage and into the heart of urban society. With participatory formats, the theater creates relevant contributions to performative urban development, connects artists and audiences and is a driver and transmission medium for current social discourse. Theater Rampe in Stuttgart embodies a new type of municipal theater in the best sense of the word.” – Jury statement
