On the evening of April 17, 2026—and thus for the first time in the immediate run-up to the Berlin Theatertreffen—it will be “curtains up”: with a festive program of theatrical and musical performances, Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer will present the 2026 Theaterpreis des Bundes on the grand stage of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

In addition to honoring outstanding theater institutions by the federal government, the Fonds Darstellende Künste will also award the Tabori Prize 2026 to a nationally remarkable position in the independent performing arts.
