In 2024, the Schwankhalle Bremen was awarded the grand prize of the Federal Theater Prize – a well-deserved achievement for a venue whose programming consistently reaches out into the city and addresses major themes on a small scale. The Schwankhalle sees itself as a “third place”: a space between home and work that fosters community and exchange. But what exactly lies behind this concept?
